Kaoitc

Hi, to all R22 owners !! This is my 1st blog. I don't believe I've got enough experience on my R22 to make comments, however I really enjoy hearing of yours. --- My boat has been a ball to sail and garners a lot of attention from Club members.---- We're trying several things to see if they work, i.e. we sailed down wind wing & wing w/ asso (no pole), slightly by-the-lea. Boat speed was very good relative to other boats (8kts wind). Has anyone else tried this during a race ? If so what results. ---- Do you let the jack down after every race ? --- Our biggest problem is launching w/ cranes, Spreaders are so swept back, the shrouds interfer w/ hoist cables. We have to have someone on the boat bow to dip bow and miss shrouds. We are hoisting w/ keel ring. Tried hoisting w/ 3/8" boat in trunk but boat tries to roll. ---- We are launching asso from companionway ( all the crew is over 65 yrs), not forward hatch. Seems rather easy (much easier than my S2 7.9). Jim we're going to try your tackline trick for windward takedowns to douse easier in heavy air. Thanks for letting me join !!!
